The Client: 

We are currently working for a Main Contractor that had a turnover of over £150 Million in the South of UK and overall £1 Billion as a company this year. They pride themselves for having a hands on approach with their clients which results in a high level of trust, certainty and overall great value. The company has remained a private, family owned business for 158 years and continues to be Ireland’s biggest contractor.

They have a wealth of experience across all sectors, including residential, hotels and education and have worked with an abundance of major industries such as Microsoft, Primark, Google and Network Rail.

Project examples:

  • The Canada Gardens project based in Wembley was valued at £211,000,000 which consisted of 743 PRS units and 7 blocks ranging from 12 – 26 storey towers.
  • The Deptford Foundry in London had a value of £95,000,000. The project contained 9 blocks (316 Units), 22 storey towers as well as a commercial space.
  • Circle Square in Manchester worth £200,000,000. This was the largest regeneration development in Manchester and was led by Bruntwood and Select Properties.
  • The Royal Academy in London was a refurbishment of a Grade II listed property and was valued at £55,000,000.

The Ideal Candidate: 

  • A good understanding of both mechanical and electrical services coming from a mechanical trades background or professional qualification in engineering
  • Good communication and people management skills both upstream and downstream, including delivering progress and finance reports
  • Good leadership and decision-making skills with experience of managing specialist M&E install teams.
  • Consistent and conscientious ensuring high standards are met in terms of meeting progress targets according to the programme of works, quality compliance according to the drawings and specifications, and health and safety regulations
  • Ability to build and develop long-term relationships with external professionals, clients, contractors and suppliers.
  • Either come from a Main Contracting background working as an Assistant TSM / TSM or someone working for a M&E Contractor as an Engineer.
  • HNC/HND would be desirable

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Be the face of the company when it comes to Leading the MEP element in BID Meetings & BID process when selling to Clients/Consultants.
  • Working alongside the Project Director when it comes down to Estimating & Tendering new projects.
  • Managing and mentoring a small team of Building Services Managers that vary in different levels.
  • Reviewing drawings and advising the design team on the coordination of the M&E services within the overall building design.
  • Tender review and sub-contractor selection.
  • Input in to the construction programme and integrating the M&E programme in to it, including the commissioning phase.
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress against the project programme working closely alongside the project team and driving the M&E install accordingly.
  • Testing and checking installations and ensuring the commissioning is planned and carried out effectively.
  • Ensuring building regulations and health and safety requirements are met.
  • Attending meetings and presenting ideas and progress reports to managers and clients.
  • Advising clients on how the building services will operate once the building is complete as part of the handover process.

Package Details: 

  • £70,000 – £85,000 basic salary (Depending on experience)
  • Car Allowance (Circa £6,500)
